Karana Harum Manis is a specialty coffee from East Java, Indonesia, grown at elevations between 1300–1500 meters by local farmer Karana. This lot uses a natural processing method, where the coffee cherries are dried whole, allowing the beans to absorb more of the fruit’s sweetness. The result is a smooth, approachable cup with a gentle sweetness and a rounded body. Expect notes of ripe fruit, light cocoa, and a subtle floral aroma. Behind this coffee is the Karana community, a collective of hundreds of smallholder farmers in the Kintamani region who combine traditional Balinese farming practices with a focus on sustainability. Their farms integrate cultural traditions, sustainable practices, and community-driven innovation by prioritising biodiversity, natural composting, and careful cultivation methods. This shared commitment to quality and heritage helps produce coffees that are both distinctive and responsibly grown.
