Grown in Embu County, Kenya, on a 2.5-hectare farm run by Arthur and Josephine Mbogo. Alongside the coffee trees: avocado, macadamia, banana, and a herd of cows so important they get personally introduced to visitors, their manure even powers the farm's biodigester. Every cherry is hand-picked at peak ripeness, washed in water from the Kamavindi River, and dried slow on raised beds until it's just right. The payoff: a cup that sparkles with tropical acidity, lifted florals, nectarine and honey. We buy from the Mbogos, because farmers who pour this much care into their coffee deserve a fair go. Good people, good coffee, good reason to put the kettle on.
