Few coffees we source carry impact like our Women’s Microlot from Rwanda. Produced by 136 women farming the hills around Ruli Washing Station Dukunde Kawa Cooperative’s largest site—this lot plays a meaningful role in supporting financial independence for female producers. In Rwanda, farm size is measured not by land, but by the number of coffee trees tended. Most contributors manage a few hundred trees on small plots alongside food crops and livestock. Many are members of Rambagirakawa, a women’s alliance within Dukunde Kawa formed to advocate for greater support and opportunity. By organising specific delivery days, the women ensure their cherries are processed separately as a designated “Women’s Coffee” lot, earning an additional bonus on top of quality premiums. Founded in 2012, Rambagirakawa has grown into a powerful network creating opportunity, amplifying women’s voices, and strengthening futures across their community. Tasting Notes: Black tea, smooth vanilla, dried fig and brown spice with a gentle honeyed sweetness.
