About this coffee

A true Ethiopian treasure! Sharbo Maro was born into a coffee-farming family. He’s also the oldest farmer in the Mokonisa village. Sharbo Maro established his farm in 2015 in the Mokonisa kebele of Wenago county, which borders the well-known Yirgacheffe county. Half of the 16-hectare farm is dedicated to coffee, predominantly the Kurume variety. Today, the farm produces nearly 9000kg of meticulously crafted, ‘export-ready’ coffee. This coffee is meticulously crafted with the support of the Jabanto Farmers Group -which Sharbo is proudly part of- encompassing 87 skilled farmers dedicated to cultivating single-farmer lots of outstanding quality. Jabanto’s members have been continuously striving to improve coffee quality through good agronomic and post-harvest processing practices, and most produce natural sun-dried coffees. Sharbo Maro is one of a few members of Jabanto that has the infrastructure to wash coffee, making it one of our favourite producers coming out of Ethiopia in 2023. Citrus flavours throughout with a deep bergamot & orange finish.
