Grown by smallholder farmers in their own backyard garden plots in the Masina Kebele, Adola Woreda, in the Guji zone of Oromia. Cherries are carried to the Guji Masina washing station, built in 2017 by Project Origin and exporter Primrose. It's a station with serious pedigree: a coffee from Masina helped win the 2018 World Barista Championship. Masina's coffee comes from hundreds of small garden plots, each tended by a family and delivered as cherry to the station. Every lot is colour sorted, then passed over the hand sorting tables three times before export. That care is why Masina keeps turning up in competition.
A standout as filter, bright and layered. As espresso it turns syrupy and sweet, with the citrus lifting through the caramel.
