About this coffee

Sitting at almost 2000 meters above sea level, the Ruli washing station boasts incredible views of the surrounding mountains in the Gakenke district of Rwanda. This lot features cherries from over 320 smallholder farmers who deliver coffee to the washing station from the surrounding areas. Most of these farmers own approximately one tenth of a hectare of land, and grow an assortment of other produce to both support the coffee and themselves throughout the season. This 100% red bourbon natural lot is a testament to the quality and ingenuity of the farmers who contributed their harvest, and also to the huge amount of care applied by the staff of the Ruli washing station, who are trained to select only the best and ripest cherries before they begin the drying process. Ruli is also Rainforest Alliance certified, UTZ certified, and Fair Trade certified. These certifications help the growing cooperative to continue to expand and find more and more markets for their coffees. Expect to find classic natural Rwandan florals and clarity in the cup, with strong notes of Guava & Jasmine to compliment.
